There isn't another
product out there that takes the PC Weasel's video and keyboard emulation
approach, but there are other boards that fall under the "server
administration" heading. We're happy to save you some legwork (fingerwork?)
and provide a (slightly biased) guide to the things we know about. If
you know of other related products, we'd appreciate hearing from you.

Enidan builds a
board called the "J1 Serial Console". It solves the problem the right
way, but suffers from serious limitations. First, it only benefits Award
BIOS users. Second, since it lacks a local supervisory processor or
watchdog mechanism, it doesn't give the user the ability to reset the
host PC, either manually (remotely) or automatically.

Berkshire makes a number of watchdog boards that feature elaborate I/O,
temperature monitoring, and indicator LEDs. Their products do not address
the serial console problem.

AMI, Dell, and Intel make similar, very elaborate remote administration
boards featuring ethernet ports, SNMP manageability, the ability to
power- cycle the host, etc. The big downside, though, is that they
all require the use of a Windows client at the sysadmin's end rather
than simply presenting a serial port for simple ASCII commands.
AMI's web site has comprehensive documentation available; Intel's
less so; Dell's has no information at all.
Our information is that they cost between $1000 and $2000 US.

This is only barely related and a small sub-set of the Weasel's functionality.
Consider the cost of this against the cost of the Weasel and the large
increase in functionality provided by the Weasel.
