#6
Using a Cisco 2509 or CS500 access server for a Weasel console concentrator
May 15th, 2002
Assume the
Cisco is on a secure network and available IP addresses are 192.168.1/24.
The cisco is 192.168.1.17. You want your console ports to be 192.168.1.[port].
First, cabling. You
will need to use the Cisco supplied CFDCE92 adapter and a piece of flat
satin, also supplied by Cisco.
Then, on the cisco, configure your ports. Example: Weasel plugged into
port 1:
conf t
line 1
no exec
modem inout
transport input telnet
stopbits 1
rxspeed 9600
txspeed 9600
end
This sets the baudrate for the port on which the Weasel is connected,
to 9600 bits per second.
Then assign an IP address to each port that a Weasel is plugged into:
conf t
ip alias 192.168.1.1 6001
end
Make sure you have 'telnet' ability:
conf t
service tcp-small-servers
You should now be able to 'telnet 192.168.1.1' and talk to your Weasel.
