Application Note
#5
24 vs. 25 lines
December 12th, 2001
The PC Weasel PCI
fully emulates a PC screen, which means 25 lines of output (or more,
as in the case of 43- and 50-line VGA modes).
However, some DOS-based terminal emulators (Procomm, Procomm Plus, Telix,
etc.), place a status line on the 25th line of the DOS display. In this
case, output will not look correct, with the host's command line prompts,
when on the last line of the display, overwriting (or being overwritten
by) the status line, or not appearing at all.
Similarly, the PC Weasel will not correctly output to a 24 line VT-100
style terminal because the VT-100 is a ling short compared to the PC
display. You must ensure that the terminal emulator you are using is
able to actually display at least as many lines as the Weasel is emulating.
You can determine at any time the text mode (geometry) by examining
the Stuff menu (<attn character>s).
